When and where does Troop 150 meet?
Meetings are on all Mondays (except major holidays) from 7-8 pm in the downstairs media center at the Annandale United Methodist Church, which is located on Columbia Pike in Annandale, Virginia.
What does it mean when it says this Troop is ‘Youth-Led’?
‘Youth-Led’ signifies that it is the Scouts that run the Troop. We make most of the decisions, and the adults are there for guidance if needed.
Are patrols mixed aged?
Yes, all our patrols are mixed age except for the new Scout patrol (with an older leader). Scouts are able to request to be in a certain patrol or with a certain person.
What fundraisers do you do?
The Troop has several fundraisers throughout the year. The fundraisers include wreath sales, a clothing drive, and selling camp cards. Participants are awarded with credit (based on their sales or collection) to use on campouts and Troop gear.
What Council and District does Troop 150 belong to?
Troop 150 belongs to the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) and the Old Dominion District (ODD).
How many service projects does your Troop do?
Our Troop aims to do at least one service project per campout if possible. We also do community service around our meeting place such as Scouting for Food (we have even been featured in WUSA9!), Stop Hunger Now, and Eagle Scout Projects.
How often does Troop 150 go camping?
We typically go camping once every month, but it has been tradition to instead have a day trip during December. Scouts decide what campouts and other events we do each year.
Does your Troop go to a summer camp?
We have been going to Goshen Scout Reservation every summer since it’s opening in 1967 (virtual for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Do you meet in the summer?
Yes, we do meet in the summer. The meetings are informal and do not require full Class A uniform (we wear Scout related shirts).
How often do you earn the JTE award?
Our troop is a yearly recipient of the Journey to Exellence award. It takes a lot of work by the entire troop to earn this prestigious award.
Does your Troop support the Order of the Arrow?
Yes, Order of the Arrow (OA) elections are held annually and we have many active OA members.
