April 2020 set Troop 150 up for a new leadership term (which lasts six months).ย The reason for this is because we held SPL elections during one of our virtual troop meetings.ย The Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) is the youth in charge of making the Troop function properly โ he is the head Scout. These SPL elections were important as the nominated Scout will lead the Troop until November 1.
After Scouts had nominated multiple people, the nominees gave speeches on why they thought they would be the best fit for the position. There were many good candidates, but since only one could be chosen, a virtual poll was set up. At the end of the meeting, the results were announced! The newly elected SPL and his staff will begin their term on May 1.
One week later, during the second troop meeting of the month, Scouts played a game of Scout-themed jeopardy and catched up with their patrols.
The following Monday, a PLC took place. This PLC would be the final PLC of the November 2019 term, and the first 20 minutes of it was dedicated to working on requirements. After requirements, Scouts planned out the month of May. During this meeting, Patrol Leaders also decided the credits each staff member would receive.
The final event of the month, an informal troop meeting, took place on the 30th. These informal meetings have been held every Thursday and Saturday night and offer time for Scouts to work on requirements, talk, and play games.
