During the month of February, Troop 150 went to Marylands Heights (near Harpers Ferry) to introduce new Scouts to backpacking. The Scouts hiked five miles from Harpers Ferry to the overlook where they could see the town below along the intersection of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. The Troop also preformed the troop cheer on the overlook. It was heard by people in Harpers Ferry below!
After the hike, the Troop returned to camp at Camp Manidokan to work on Scout skills, such as tent pitching. Once the work on skills was complete, the patrols began to work on dinner. After dinner and cleaning, the Troop gathered around the fire to tell jokes and share stories. The Scouts also played manhunt in the field, with the team led by ASM Hogan dominating our Scoutmaster’s team.
Finally, the troop participated in a service project at Camp Manidokan. The project involved using utility knives to remove plastic sheathes from trees at a tree plot, along with removing any briars growing on the trees.
