June was an exciting month in Scouting for Troop 150. Two Eagle Scout Projects were performed and our monthly campout was to the Adventure Park in Sandy Springs, Maryland. Along with that, Troop 150 held a Barbecue and a Goshen Pre-Swim, which helped prepare Scouts for the BSA Swim Test at Goshen.
An Eagle Scout Project is a good way to get your service hours in. The first Eagle Scout Project of this month took place at Belvedere Elementary School. Scouts made, cleared, and filled a path to an outdoor classroom. Scouts also formed and filled the outdoor classroom with mulch, and they placed logs as benches. It was a beautiful area for teaching!
For the second Eagle Scout Project, Scouts constructed four benches and dug twelve 1-foot deep holes to put the benches in. Scout also constructed an “Outdoor Whiteboard.” The Whiteboard’s poles were placed in two feet deep holes and cemented in. The benches were cemented in along with the Whiteboard. After the cementing was finished, it was a marvelous outdoor classroom.
Both Eagle Scout Projects were a great success. Hopefully, the leaders of each of the Eagle Scout Projects will reach Eagle (the highest rank in Scouting) soon. These Eagle Scout Projects have been a great effect on the community and children’s learning environment.
The most recent campout in Troop 150 was the Adventure Park campout at Sandy Springs, Maryland. This campout took place from June 23 to June 24. Scouts began the campout with a hike along the Underground Railroad Trail, and they saw a boundary stone while they were hiking.
When that was over, Troop 150 set up camp at Eagle’s Landing, a great, pleasant area in Sandy Springs.

At 5:00 PM, all the fun began. Troop 150 started to do the ropes course (Adventure Park). This was a fun and challenging event for many Scouts, even the ones afraid of heights. Troop 150 stayed at the Aventure Park until late at night. So late, in fact, that the lights one the courses turned on. It was such a wonderful experience!
The most recent event that Troop 150 has had is the Goshen Pre-Swim. Scouts prepared for the BSA Swim Test that would take place at Goshen. Scouts swam around a designated area at beach two. When Scouts were done practicing, many people had a great time playing and dunking Todd in Lake Barcroft.
