Many Troop 150 affairs took place during May 2019. Important events, such as Memorial Day Services and Court of Honors were held. An extremely fun campout, called the “Pedal and Paddle Campout,” was offered for Troop 150 and yet another Troop 150 Scout earned the rank of Eagle. Four Order of the Arrow candidates also became officially invested into the OA.
On May 3 -5, both OA candidates and OA members camped in the pouring rain. The candidates completed special tasks while the members prepared the food. Everybody had to go home early due to flooding, however, all of the OA candidates had become members by that time.
The next major Troop 150 event was their monthly campout. After the generous adults drove the Troop down to Harpers Ferry, WV, patrols set up their sites, ate lunch, collected bikes + helmets, and then set off! They biked several miles to an ice cream shop, where they filled up on some delicious creations. It was such a nice treat for the hot day.
Soon after, they began their trek back in order to return in time for dinner. The Troop had originally planned to take kayaks back, but the river was too high. The next morning, Troop 150 packed up their river-side campsite and headed off back to AUMC.
That same week, a Court of Honor was held. At it, Scoutmaster Emeritus Wood was honored. He received special rewards, dedications, a slideshow full of memories, and so much more. Several new Scouts were invested into the Troop. Two Scouts received a Scout Spirit coin and everyone ate ice cream at the end. It was a very enjoyable COH!
One week later and it was Memorial Day. On Memorial Day Sunday, members of Troop 150 participated in recognizing fallen service members with a religious service and flag implanting. On Memorial Day itself, the Troop did not have a meeting.
May was truly a memorable month for Troop 150.
